FAQs

How much does a custom piece cost?

As every piece is unique, every quote is unique! There is no markup on the cost of the wood. The artist is paid an hourly rate based on how much time is estimated to complete the artwork. A small supply fee is added to the final quote to cover the costs of materials such as graphite paper, new pyrography tips, sandpaper and finishes.

Small, simple designs start around $100 and go up based on size. Larger pieces can go upwards of $1,000+.  

What can you wood burn on?

Almost any raw wood can be used. Miss Malo loves using up-cycled materials & prefers hardwoods such as maple, cherry, oak and walnut. Available products include but are not limited to:

-Bath Trays

-Furniture

How long does it take?

The amount of time it takes to complete a piece depends on how large the item & design is! Small ones can take 2-4 hours and large ones can take 40 or more hours! The more details, the more time is spent creating the piece. Time includes prepping the wood, drawing the design, burning the design and applying the finish.

What tool do you use?

Miss Malo’s tool of choice is an SS-D10 Razertip Pyrography tool. A torch is sometimes used to created different effects.
